Medicine, and Public Health in 2025-the journal’s 13th year! Vaughn Cooper, the Executive Editor, is glad to hear from authors about possible submissions. Now that anyone can publish anything anytime, why do we need journals? For readers, they filter the best work in a field and put it in one journal so you can find it. For authors, suggested edits turn good-enough articles into polished gold. EMPH reviewers are especially helpful in this regard.
<p class="button-wrapper" It has succeeded. In 2013 Evolution Medicine and Public Health began publishing, in 2015 the International Society for Evolution, Medicine, and Public Health had its first meeting, and its 11th annual meeting will be this July in Kiel, Germany. The ISEMPH Newsletter took over some of the information sharing functions from The EvMedReview, but ISEMPH gratis memberships will soon be discontinued because of high costs. Most of the same content will now be shared on the EvMedReview. However, paying ISEMPH members continue to get many benefits including early access to registration, meeting discounts, voting rights, participation in committees, and access to the EvMedEd resources and the searchable database of people with similar interests across the world…to say nothing of the satisfaction of contributing to the growth of a new field that is improving human health. Fees are substantially reduced for members in countries where resources are scarce.

With all this in mind, here are some timely news items.

ISEMPH membership fees are 20% off this month if you use the code “EB2026” at checkout. This research is revealing exciting new and unexpected facets of oxygen biology, but translating these findings to patients poses major challenges, because hypoxia can be dangerous. Overcoming these barriers will require integrating insights from basic science, high-altitude physiology, clinical medicine, and sports technology. Here, we explore the foundations of this nascent field and outline a path to determine how chronic continuous hypoxia can be safely, effectively, and practically delivered to patients.

Abstract by Robert S. Rogers and Vamsi K.
